Senior Year College Planning

Early Fall:

• Finalize your college list
• Visit Colleges
• Explore WUE Schools https://www.wiche.edu/tuition-savings/wue/wue-list-of-schools/
• Start your Common App 
• Ask Teachers for letters of recommendations - give them 2-3 weeks
• Update your resume/activities list
• Register for SAT/ACT if needed

Fall:

• Apply to colleges
• Take your ACT/SAT if needed
• FAFSA usually opens October 1- submit early for best aid opportunities 
• Write Scholarship Essay
• Write college essay
• Look at the school you plan on attending for first-year scholarships
• Apply for the Galena General Scholarship (for Galena Seniors only) opens mid-October
• Apply for scholarships now through spring
• If considering TMCC, apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship, due October 31st
• Early Decision Deadlines usually November 1-15th

Spring:

• Confirm test scores were received
• Make final decision
• Inform every college of your acceptance or rejection of the offer
• Send your deposit to the college you will be attending
• Send final transcript after graduation
