Spring Internship application through the district opens on September 15, 2025

An internship is a work-based learning experience that places the student in a real workplace environment to develop and practice career-related knowledge and skills for a specific career field related to the student’s career interests, abilities, and goals. An internship can count as one of a student's 7 classes or 5 if they are a senior who qualifies for merit.

WCSD offers group internships through Renown, KUNR Youth Radio, City of Reno and a general Engineering internship and also individual internships through local businesses.

Renown Health Medical Internship

Explore careers in healthcare with Renown Health!
This internship offers students the opportunity to learn from a variety of healthcare professionals across multiple departments, including:

Direct patient care
Medical diagnostics
Health informatics (patient information management)
Management and human resources

KUNR Youth Media Program

Engineering Experience

Explore the world of engineering through real-world, hands-on learning!
This group experience offers students a unique opportunity to learn about five key engineering disciplines:

Architecture
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Structural Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

Students will engage directly with industry professionals to gain valuable insights into each field and what it’s like to work in engineering careers.

PBS Reno

PBS Reno Internship

Get hands-on experience creating media content at PBS Reno!
This individual internship offers students the chance to:

Learn how media content is produced for public broadcasting and social media
Gain practical skills using cameras and production equipment
Understand the behind-the-scenes of a professional media organization

School Police Jr. Cadet

School Police Jr. Cadets Program

Step into the world of law enforcement with hands-on, behind-the-scenes training!
The School Police Jr. Cadets group internship gives students a unique opportunity to experience real police tactics, procedures, and training in a structured, educational setting.

Participants will:

Learn about police operations, safety protocols, and community engagement
Train alongside School Police officers
Develop leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills

City of Reno

City of Reno Internship Opportunity

Interested in how local government works?
Intern with the City of Reno to gain hands-on experience and learn how different departments and employees work together to support our community.

Students will:

Work directly with city employees and officials
Explore day-to-day responsibilities across departments
Understand the impact of local government operations
