Enrollment Requirement
To play for Galena High School, student-athletes must be enrolled either as full-time students or through zoned sports-only registration.
Incoming Galena HS Students: Complete the yearly academic registration online in Infinite Campus:
- Log in to Infinite Campus at Campus Parent
- Select the [More] tab.
- Select [Start] on the 2026-2027 Existing Student Registration.
- Select [Begin Registration].
- Confirm or update your household, guardian, emergency contact, and student information.
Charter School Students: May participate in sports at Galena if residing in the school zone and the sport is not offered at the charter school.
Request sports-only enrollment: email registrar and athletic secretary
Homeschool Students: May participate in sports at Galena if residing in the school zone. Submit an Intent to Homeschool form to: WCSD Extended Studies and obtain a receipt.

Attendance Requirement
Attendance is checked on game days. To play sports, student athletes need at least 220 minutes of school attendance that day. Saturday eligibility is based on Friday’s attendance. To request an exception for an excused absence, please email: email athletic director and athletic secretary
Sports Physical Requirement
NIAA Physical: Medical Eligibility Form
Use document NIAA sports physical updated 6.5.2025.
To get cleared for the sports season, your physical exam must fall within these dates:
2026-2027 Physical Exam Dates
- 2026 Fall Sports: Nov 25, 2025 - Aug 1, 2026
- 26-27 Winter Sports: Feb 27, 2026 - Nov 14, 2026
- 2027 Spring Sports: May 15, 2026 - Feb 13, 2027
Note: Physical exams between May 15, 2026 - Aug 1, 2026 will be valid for all three sports seasons.
Upload the Medical Eligibility Form into Aktivate, skip pages 1–6, upload only completed page 7. The athletic department will verify the physical exam date and ensure that all sections of page 7 are complete to clear this requirement.
Academic Requirements
INITIAL GPA CHECK EACH SPORTS SEASON
To be academically eligible, students must meet the following requirements on their report card report card prior to the season:
GPA & Credits: Minimum unweighted GPA of 2.0 in at least two (2.0) units of credit, and
Grades: No more than one F grade.
2026-2027 Report Cards:
- 2026 Fall Sports: 2026 spring semester report card, reviewed after 6/08/2026.
- 2026 Fall Recheck: 2026 fall quarter progress report card, reviewed after 10/16/2026.
- 26-27 Winter Sports: 2026 fall quarter progress report card, reviewed after 10/16/2026.
- 26-27 Winter Recheck: 2026 fall semester report card, reviewed after 1/05/2027.
- 2027 Spring Sports: 2026 fall semester report card, reviewed after 1/05/2027.
- 2027 Spring Recheck: 2027 spring quarter progress report card, reviewed after 3/12/2027.
Transcripts:
- Galena HS Students: HS records are on file - no student action needed.
- Fall Incoming Freshman Students: No HS transcript yet - no student action needed.
- Students from another HS: Upload semester transcript or quarter grade report into Aktivate.
The athletic department will verify the GPA and grades to clear this requirement prior to the sport season. The recheck of GPA and grades will immediately affect eligibility status.
"NO F" GRADE CHECKS
Additionally, "No F" grade checks occur every three weeks during the season for continued eligibility of all student-athletes.
Note: Student-athletes who qualify for the team but fail to meet the GPA or grade requirements are ineligible for competition. They may not participate in games or meets until the pass their first "no F" grade check.

Aktivate Registration Part I: NIAA Forms
CREATE AN AKTIVATE REGISTRATION EVERY SCHOOL YEAR
Registration for NIAA-sanctioned sports opens May 9th via the Aktivate portal. For an overview of the rules, regulations, and policies written into the Nevada Revised Statutes, please refer to the NIAA Eligibility Information for Students and Parents 26-27. Please follow this link for additional NIAA Student-Athlete Registration Instructions .
- To begin registration, go to www.aktivate.com/login/ Sign in or create a new account if you do not already have one.
- Click on [Parent/Guardian Access]
- Click on [Start/Complete Registrations], then [New Registration +].
- Click on [Select School] and type: Galena
- Click [Select Athlete] and complete the athlete summary for your new athlete or select your returning athlete’s name.
- In [Select Year/Sport], select all the sports for the fall, winter, and spring seasons the athlete intends to participate in.
- In [Update Athlete Info], fill out the guardian information completely for both guardians, even if the information is the same. Guardian information in Aktivate will be compared to Infinite Campus. Fill out the student’s health insurance information; athletes must have health insurance to participate in sports. The gap insurance is an Aktivate advertisement and is optional.

NIAA FORMS: NEVADA QUESTIONNAIRE
The athletic department verifies NIAA forms and submits them for eligibility decision. To avoid delays, ensure all information matches Infinite Campus and that the application is fully completed; otherwise, it will be returned for corrections. This process must be completed once per school year.
NIAA TRYOUT CHECKLIST Parent and athlete must check the boxes, e-sign their name exactly as it appears, and click the [e-sign] button after reading the following policies:

- Sportsmanship Policy
- Concussion Policy
- Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Policy
HIGH SCHOOL CHECK (Academic Enrollment Information) Dropdown options update based on your selections. Select 'NO' until the statement describes your athlete’s situation.
· F-1 or J-1 Visa: Not common.
· Charter school: Resides in the Galena HS school zone, is academically enrolled to attend a charter school, and the sport is not offered at the charter school. Enrollment, guardianship, and residency information will be verified to establish eligibility for all charter student-athletes yearly.
· Homeschool: Resides in the Galena HS school zone and has an Intent to Homeschool receipt from WCSD Extended Studies. Enrollment, guardianship, and residency information will be verified to establish eligibility for all homeschooled student-athletes yearly.
· Freshman: Enrollment, guardianship, and residency information will be verified to establish eligibility for all freshmen student-athletes. Variance: Students attending 9th grade at Galena on a variance may only play sports at a sub-varsity level (Freshman or JV team) for the first year.
· Different Previous High School and Now at Galena: A hardship application section will appear to explain a school transfer. Variance: Students who are 12th graders and attending their first year at Galena on a variance may not participate in sports.
· Previously at Galena and Continuing at Galena: Select this option if the student’s enrollment was at Galena during the entire previous 12 months.
GUARDIANSHIP VERIFICATION
· The guardianship information for both parents must match in Aktivate and Infinite Campus. Call the school if you need to update Infinite Campus.
RESIDENCY VERIFICATION
· These are questions about your school zone.
· Residential Affidavits: This question does not apply to most students and is usually answered 'NO.' If you believe this applies to your household, please contact the school registrar to confirm.
SCHOOL VERIFICATION
· Answer questions about the athlete’s previous school attendance and if they previously played high school sports.
TRANSFER FORM
· All incoming 9th grade students are transfer students.
· 10-12th grade students who attended another school are transfer students. Athletic eligibility of a 10-12th grader at a new school may be determined based on proof of hardship.
UPLOAD PROOF OF CURRENT ADDRESS.
Upload two full-page documents proving guardian residency at the address listed in Aktivate and Infinite Campus. Utility bills must show the guardian's name and the address twice. Some options are:
o Utility bill statement (electric, water, sewer) with page(s) showing both the service address and mailing address.
o Current Nevada Driver’s License or ID
o Current complete Mortgage Statement or Lease Agreement
UPLOAD COURT ORDER OF PHYSICAL CUSTODY
· If an athlete has two households, upload the complete court order of physical custody document including the filing stamp into Aktivate (irrelevant info. may be redacted). Partial documents will be returned, causing delays in review.
· Residency can only be established at one parent’s household. The NIAA will follow court orders of primary residency. Families with joint physical custody may choose the residence of either parent, but the athlete will be subject to NIAA transfer rules if they transfer to a school in the other parent’s residence.
UPLOAD TRANSCRIPT
· A transcript is required to verify academic eligibility if the student attends or previously attended a different high school.
All sections of NIAA Forms should have a green checkmark before submitting the application. Once submitted, the athletic department will be alerted to process it.
Note: Processing of applications will be paused from 6/18/2026 through 7/28/2026.

Aktivate Registration Part II: Registration Checklist
CONTINUE AKTIVATE REGISTRATION
- To continue registration, go to www.aktivate.com/login/
- Click on [Parent/Guardian Access]
- Click on [Start/Complete Registrations] and select current registration.
The registration checklist section (electronic documents, final e-signature, and physical documents) will be available after the completion of the NIAA forms. Note: Rostering is permitted only after NIAA Forms are approved and the Registration Checklist is complete.
ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS
Click on [Read] for each of the electronic documents. Click [I have read the document], checkbox [I agree], and click [Submit] to acknowledge and agree with the policies.
FINAL E-SIGNATURE
E-sign will appear after the electronic documents are complete.

FEES
The Galena bookkeeper’s office will add the WCSD Student Activities & Athletic Fees into Infinite Campus after student-athletes are rostered. See electronic documents for WCSD fee details by sport.
Spirit pack fees are not part of the WCSD fees. Contact the coach for information regarding the additional spirit pack fees.
