- Attention Class of 2027! Senior parking UPDATE: All parking spots are first come first serve. Please do not “claim” your spot beforehand. Cyber bullying is not tolerated and can result in loss of parking spot purchasing privileges.
- All students and especially seniors, remember that all school property needs to be returned by the end of finals week. This includes all textbooks, library books and laptops. You can bring all of these things to the library and they will take care of it for you. Seniors especially, please remember to clear all of your accounts prior to graduation.
- As the school year winds down, don't forget to stop by the library outside of class time and use your Grizz Golds to buy snacks, drinks or fidget toys. You'll get a few two for one deals as well. See you then!

A big shout out to all of our athletes who competed this weekend.:
- The boys Cross Country Team are now the reigning 5A State Champions. They finished with a team score of 51 besting Sky Point by 6 points. David Coisson finished 2nd over all followed by Ayden Mosby in 8th, Cayden Mosby in 11th, Hunter Steele in 12th and Kole Steele in 19th. Liam Ipsen and Oliver Raker rounded out the team in 39th and 48th respectively. Congratulations on such a great season and for bringing home the hardware.
- Congratulations to our Lady Grizzly XC team. They finished in 6th in a tie breaker with Shadow Ridge. As one of the younger teams competing, it was an amazing showing. Galena is proud to be the home of the new 5A Female State Record holder for the best time (post season all classes) @ Rancho San Rafael, Gioa Coudriet. When winning the State Individual Championship, Gioa’s time of 17:54 bested the previous record of 18:09 set in 2006 by Mel Lawrence by 15 seconds. Way to go Gioa! In a highly competitive field, fellow teammate freshman Emme Ream was hot on her heels finishing 4th followed by Kinsley Wilcox in 30th, Alexis Melendrez in 53nd, Isa Mosby in 62nd, Avery Hunt in 71st and Presley Hart in 79th.
- Our Lady Grizzly Soccer players soundly defeated Palo Verde on Friday with a score of 6-0. They advanced to play Doral Red Rock in a nail biter of a game on Saturday. The Grizzlies finished 4A State Runner ups in a hard fought contest. Coming back from a 3-1 deficit, the lady Grizzlies tied it up late in the 2nd half. After another score by the Dragons and despite many shots on goal, time ran out ending an incredibly successful season for the 4A Northern Region Champion Galena Girls Soccer Team.
We are proud of all of our Galena Fall Sport athletes and look forward to a successful Winter Sport season.

The Girls Soccer team starts their quest at 2:00 TODAY at Hug High School v. Palo Verde. After they win, they will advance to the 4A State Title game on Saturday at 10:00 at Hug playing against the winner of the Doral Red Rock v Manogue game. The Boys XC Team will race their way to the top of the podium Saturday @ 10:00 at Rancho San Rafael. The Lady Grizzly XC runners will be racing to victory at Rancho San Rafael at 12:30. Let’s bring home the hardware Grizzlies!

- It was a great weekend for Galena Sports. Our Boys Cross Country Team won the 5A Regional Title and will be competing this weekend for a State Title. Individually David Coisson finished first and is the 5A Northern Regional Champion, followed by Ayden Mosby in 2nd place, Hunter Steele in 4th place, Cayden Mosby in 5th, Kole Steele in 8th place, Liam Ipsen in 11th and Oliver raker rounding it out in 25th. They will race @ 10:00 on Saturday @ Rancho San Rafael. The Lady Grizzly Soccer team is also the 2025 4A Northern Regional Champions. They soundly defeated Manogue on Saturday with a score of 5-0. They will face Palo Verde @ 2:00pm on Friday in the 4A State Semi-Finals @ Hug. Our Lady Grizzly Cross Country runners were 5A Northern Regional Runner Ups. They finished a strong second place. Individually a big shout out to Gioa Coudriet who defended her 5A Northern Regional Title successfully finishing a full 49 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Great job Gioa. Emme Ream, a freshman, finished third overall. A great showing for her first Regional competition. Kinsley Wilcox finished 13th, Alexis Melendrez finished 23rd, Isa Mosby finished 29th, Avery Hunt 34th and Presley Hart rounded out the team finishing in 37th. - Congratulations to our Alpine Ski Race Team. At the state championship races, the Grizzlies really took home the hardware! Our boy's team won the slalom championship and were runners up for Giant Slalom and Combined overall team score. The boys were also dubbed academic state champs with a combined 3.81 team GPA! Our Girl's team won the Slalom championship and were the overall combined state champions this year. Leading the charge, Ivan Westons and Maren Paidokovich both earned individual podium finishes. Finally, out of 12 high schools in the Northern Nevada League, 11 of 24 invitations to the Western Regional High School Championships in Loveland, Colorado this year went to Grizzly skiers!

- If you were signed up for track and field and last week’s snow threw you off your schedule, make sure you make it to practice today at 3:00 at the track.
- All juniors will be taking the ACT on Tuesday, February 24th. Students in 9th, 10th and 12th grade have the day off except for those 12th graders who have yet to take it. Please plan to arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. Testing will take place in the 100 hallway and in select rooms in the main 200 hallway. You were sent your testing room assignment in class on Friday. If you have not received it, please stop by counseling to check your location. Staff will also be available that morning to help direct you if needed. The ACT is used for scholarship consideration at UNR and for placement into entry-level college courses, so please take this exam seriously and come prepared to do your best.
- Congratulations to the Speech and Debate team for their outstanding performance in Elko this weekend! The team brought home 20 wins and 6 bowls. If you see any Speech and Debate grizzlies, be sure to congratulate them for the Elko tournament and wish them luck as they prepare for State.

- Congratulations to all of the Galena Wrestlers. A big shout out to Regional Champions: Patrick Dye, Kai Kirn and Tristan Diaz. Lukas Arrowood finished a close second in the 132lb class. Andrew Kennon and Loke Kirn finished a strong third place with Gavin Perkins, Landon Olson rounding out the Galena wrestlers advancing to the State Tournament. Tayla McDonough will also be competing for Galena in the State Invitational Tournament. Wish all of our wrestlers good luck!

- Grizzly Swim and Dive showed up strong at the Aqua 5 Pentathlon Saturday at Moana Springs! Chase Lum finished third overall out of 42 varsity boys, posting the fastest 100 Freestyle of the entire meet. James Dixon placed sixth with the second-fastest 100 Breaststroke in the field. Christopher Reynolds dropped time in four of five events, including a 13-second improvement in the 100 Butterfly. Matthew Dixon finished second overall in his division with the fastest 50 Breaststroke and 50 Backstroke. Sofia Horsey led the varsity girls with the top Galena pentathlon finish, and Madelyn Cross dropped seven seconds in the 100 Breaststroke. The Grizzlies are back in the water Saturday evening at Moana Springs Pool for dual meets against McQueen and Douglas. Cheer your Grizzly swimmers!

- A big Shout Out to Alyssa Dixon. She set a new school record in the 100m with a time of 11.95 seconds. If you see her, tell her congratulations.

- Grizzly Swim & Dive traveled to Truckee on Friday. The boys dominated Bishop Manogue 161–28 and scored the most points of all six boys’ teams. Chase Lum led the charge, breaking the 50-second barrier in the 100 Free and winning the 50 Free in 22.65. Aram Artashesyan, Aidan Roman, and Samuel Seifert scored 14 points each with top finishes across five events. On the girls' side, Liliana Quevedo and Marni Kraemer each won both of their individual events against a deep Manogue squad. Freshman Madelyn Cross earned 6 points across two events in just her second varsity meet. Next chance to cheer on the Grizzly swimmers: Saturday afternoon at Moana.

- Congratulations to the Grizzly Boys and Girls Swim and Dive teams, who both defeated Carson on Saturday. The Grizzlies took SIX first place-finishes, two each by James Dixon, Marni Kraemer, and Lili Quevedo! We beat Carson 138-70 on the boys side, posting the highest team score of any school at the six-team meet, and we won 110-88 on the girls side. Both teams travel to Truckee on Friday to take on a tough Manogue team. Come support your Grizzly swimmers!

- Congratulations to the boys 4x800m relay team. They shattered the previously held school record by over 12 seconds, running a blazing 7:45.85. Great job David Coisson, Cayden Mosby, Ayden Mosby and Hunter Steele. This time currently ranks them 9th in the nation for high school. Alyssa Dixon also reset the school record in the 200m running 24.44.

First, congratulations to Cally Rogan, who was selected as the District Favorite in the Reno Safe Routes to School competition. As part of this recognition, she was awarded a brand-new mountain bike and helmet. What an incredible accomplishment! We also have a HUGE national achievement to share. All of our Gold Key winners advanced to the national level in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. We are especially proud to announce that Bowie Henderson earned a National Gold Medal in Photography—one of the highest honors in the nation for student artists. - Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Track and Field Regional Team Champions. It was a clean sweep: The boys team scored 170 points with the next closest team scoring 104, while the Lady Grizzlies scored 140 points with the next closest team scoring 103. The last team to sweep the 5A Northern Region Track and Field titles was… wait for it… Galena in 2021. Alyssa Dixon set a new Region record in the 100m as well as Ayden Mosby, Liam Ipsen, CJ Coudriet and Cayden Mosby setting a new Regional record in the 4X800m relay. Alyssa Dixon, Gioia Coudriet and Hunter Steele left the meet with 4 first place finishes. The Grizzlies had 15 individual and relay titles followed by 9 finishing with silver, 6 bronze and 10 fourth place finishes. These athletes will be advancing to compete at the State meet at Hug this weekend and would love to have you come and watch.
- Galena swim and dive won three individual regional titles at the 5A Northern Region Championships at Moana Springs this weekend. Chase Lum won the 100 Freestyle, Marni Kraemer won the 200 Freestyle, and Liliana Quevedo was the top Northern swimmer in the 100 Breaststroke. All three also won silver medals for second place in their second events. The boys' and girls' 200 Medley Relay teams both finished fourth and are on their way to the State Championships in Las Vegas this weekend. Joining our three regional champions on the relay teams are Kole Buckley, Sofia Horsey, Reese Nyborg, Madelyn Cross, and Sebren Key.

- Attention Seniors: Today is the last day to submit any scholarships or awards you have received for Senior Awards Night. scan the QR code on the banner or stop by the Career Center.
- All students and especially seniors, remember that all school property needs to be returned by the end of finals week. This includes all textbooks, library books and laptops. You can bring alllll of these things to the library and they will take care of it for you. Seniors especially, please remember to clear all of your accounts prior to graduation.
- As the school year winds down, don't forget to stop by the library outside of class time and use your Grizz Golds to buy snacks, drinks or fidget toys. You'll get a few two for one deals as well. See you then!

- Attention Class of 2027! Senior parking spots will be available for purchase ONLINE this year! Pick up an info sheet in the Den with all of the important instructions on how to purchase your spot. Spots will be $100 each on a first come first served basis. The purchasing link goes live on Thursday May 14th, at 3pm. Set your alarms so you can hop on and snag your 2026-2027 Senior parking spot. Up to 4 spots may be purchased at a time. BE AWARE THAT SPOT NUMBERS HAVE CHANGED! Pay attention to the map and choose wisely! Changes to spots and refunds will NOT be given once purchase is complete. Stay tuned for painting dates!

Grizzly Swim & Dive faced the Reed team and swimmers from three other teams at Northwest on Saturday and earned nine first-place finishes to close out the regular season. Sophomore Sofia Horsey won both the 100 and 200 Free; freshman Madelyn Cross took the 500 Free, and Chase Lum doubled up with wins in the 100 Free and 200 IM. The boys' 200 Free Relay placed first. Nine Grizzly swimmers will travel to Douglas tomorrow for the Rick Kauffman Invitational, and 14 will swim Friday and Saturday at Moana, taking on all of Northern Nevada this weekend for the right to advance to the State Championships in Las Vegas. Go Grizzlies!

- Feeling stressed with AP exams and everything else piling up? The Motivance Mental Health Club is hosting a guest speaker from Northern Nevada NAMI TODAY during 7th period in the career center. They will be speaking about stress awareness and sharing helpful tips on how to manage stress. There will also be fun activities and useful information. Everyone is welcome. Please stop by Ms. Mitchell’s for a pass.
- Lacrosse Senior Night is tomorrow, Friday, May 1st! Come out support our teams and celebrate our 28 seniors: Girls Varsity game begins at 5:30 PM, Senior Celebration is at 7:00 PM, Boys Varsity game starts at 8:00 PM. We will have food trucks on site from 5:30–9:00 pm. Don’t miss a great night of lacrosse, food, and honoring our seniors.
