His career began in the classroom as an English teacher before moving into leadership roles as a dean and assistant principal. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to helping every student find success especially those who may not yet see a clear path forward. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to connect with students and make them feel seen, valued, and important.

Known for his innovative and student-centered approach, Mr. Salter believes in thinking outside the box to meet students where they are and help them discover their potential. He is also the driving force behind the Galena Outdoor Academy, a hands-on learning program that takes education beyond the classroom and into the natural world. The program’s unique design allows students to earn valuable certifications while developing a deeper understanding of the environment around them.

When he’s not at school, you’ll likely find Mr. Salter doing what he loves most - reading a book, engaging in meaningful conversations, hiking up mountains, skiing down them, or enjoying a scenic drive through the countryside with his wife and daughter.
